See adverts for air lockers, but they don't tell you much.
What exactly do they do? Are they easy to fit & how is it done?
Lastly, just how effective is an air locker?

Re: Air lockers
Harold an 'air locker' is a pnuematically controlled diff lock. There are a few different types of diff lockers, like air lockers, electric lockers, lunchbox/easy lockers, etc. The 'air locker' variety use compressed air to engage the diff lock, so besides the air locker you need a small air compressor as well(usually included with the locker). The nice thing about electric and air lockers is that you can choose when you want to engage/dis-engage,via a dashboard mounted switch. Easylockers are not selectable, as soon as you engage 4x4(high or low), the easylocker is engaged.
The best known air locker is the ARB one, it's probably the best locker out there, but is very expensive... costing around 15K, including installation(per diff). There is a cheaper version available, selling for around 8K... not sure if any of the guys have experience with these cheaper versions??

Re: Air lockers
Also don't forget the vacuum lockers (air) like the gearmax which engages when you apply a vacuum to it's input. In other words you switch a solenoid valve which then connects the vacuum hose from the plenum chamber / break booster to the locker
