Front Difflock Feedback
I am considering fitting a front locker. Now I know the diffrent systems are Airlocker, Mechanical and Limitedslip but how drivable is the sistems ? Seems the EZ is the cheapest what do you guys think of it.

Re: Front Difflock Feedback
Tom,
Do you already have a rear lock? I am seriously looking for one for my SFA. Don't think I'll worry too much about the front at this stage.

Re: Front Difflock Feedback
yes, i fitted a gearmax lock diff in 2000 and its working fine but since most of the weight is on the front wheels a front locker is more effective.
Better yet front and rear!

Re: Front Difflock Feedback
One thing to realy consider when fitting a front locker is the effect on the steering. With front lockers engaged, you will almost not be able to turn. But then again, if you have the front locker angaged, you wouldn't need to turn

Re: Front Difflock Feedback
After I fitted the Lockrite locker to Kaspaas's front diff it took me a while to get used to it. But once I got used to driving with the front locker it is a real pleasure. There is no difference in the turning circle, and I found that Kaspaas handles better in loose sand. There is no rear locker in Kaspaas, but even with only the front locker he goes just about everywhere. :D

Re: Front Difflock Feedback
I also have a Gearmax rear difflock, and then installed an ARB air-locker up front. Find that I only very rarely need it. Considering the expense (about 10 grand), I would possibly next time rather spend the money on something else.
The SFA is already such a capable vehicle, that you really need to go do extreme off-roading (steep, loose gravel, etc.), or very slippery, wet surfaces to need the front locker.
Remember when it's engaged, you have to treat the front axle with respect and know what you are doing, not to damage to the drive-train. Goes without saying that there is also no steering capability when locked.
