Dyno tuning 22R

Post by Knersus »

Enige voorstelle :?:

Ek sal julle laat weet.

Hi folks,

I am going to have my lux 2.2 4Y, dyno'ed tomorrow, Wed. Reason, the head was gas flowed/ported and a AR40/BroSpeed cam was installed during the engine rebuild. The ignition timing is different with the BroSpeed conversion (somewhere around 10 - 12 deg) and the carb jetting also needs to be fine-tuned. I am hoping the dyno will highlight any other issues such as a sticky carb second stage, worn springs in the dizzi, etc. I'll give you all feedback on Thurs.

Hi;

After I serviced my 2.4, I took it to a garage to service the carb for me and Dyno it. There was a slight improvement in power and the fuel consumption went from 5.4 Km/l to 7.38 Km/l. Not sure whether this is as a result of the carb service or dyno though.

Cheers.

If I can get 7km/l I will be in heaven. My previous single cab 2.4 22R gave me a eazy 7.5km/l but the double cab seems to be more thirsty

If I know for sure that I wil be getting 7km/l I will do the Dyno now but what if it do not work :?: Money down the drain

Back to the Topic.

Eben

As 'n plek 'n free running dyno gebruik i.p.v.

Hey guys,

My LUX went for it's Dyno, and my worst suspicions were confirmed. The carb is stuffed and overfuelling drastically, the technician tried to re-jet the carb, but there was no difference whatsoever, after 2 attempts they gave up.

I asked them if I should have the carb rebuild, they said it probably won't help, because someone has stuffed around with it before. They suggested I by a new OEM one / try find a good second hand OEM one / by a new Weber / fuel inject it. The engines performance is suffering heavily at 55kw, really poor.

Fortunately they only charge me the minimum charge of 1 hour labour, even though they were busy for about 3.

So back to the drawing board!

2.0, I wish! It's a 1.6, but it's producing 20kw's more than my 2.2 hilux at present! It's a small caravan though! I might still try it with the Lux! But I'd probably land up feeling very guilty!
