Alfa 156 seats into an SFA - new update
A few years ago I borrowed my Brother-in-laws Alfa Romeo 156 for a few days and those must be the most comfortable seats I have ever sat in in my WHOLE life - so I've decided to fit a set to Rokarok.
First steps...
the seats -
front seats: back seats: the rails - the red circles show the areas that need to be removed...
the brackets to raise the rear so that the seats are level (front is mounted to the cross member/stiffener, where the stock seats mount

my guilietta had a mind of its own, the overhead display would flash on and off and the rev counter would bounce all over the place.
but damn! was that thing fun to drive
I firmly beleive that if you havn't owned at least 1 Alfa in your life you cannot call yourself a "petrolhead"

Re: Alfa 156 seats into an SFA
A quick update...
seats trial fitted - just a few brackets and mountings to make up.
I want the rear seats to still fold forward in the 60/40 split soI can get to tools etc

Re: Alfa 156 seats into an SFA
Thanks guys.
I had to modify my original plans as even though I am not the biggest oke, I still sat too high for my liking.
so I have cut out the cross member on the floor so the seats bolt straight to the floor - this has given me about 40mm extra height.
I plan to eventuall have the whole car retrimmed in khaki/brown canvas so If I need more height I will carve out some of the seat foam, making more of a pronounced "bucket" seat but obviously for comfort reasons I would like to try and avoid this if at all possible.
The back has turned out fantastic! it was like they were made to fit

Re: Alfa 156 seats into an SFA - small update
The process has been going a lot slower then I had hoped, not because the seats are difficult to fit but between painting my truck and building an extension on my house time has been rather limited (one of these days I will learn that it is OK to have others do work for you and you dont HAVE to do it ALL yourself  )
The latch for the back seat to clip onto back views... a close up, this will be welded on both sides for strength this is the clip that it goes into on the seat I made this fram up to support the front of the back seats - it isn't really necessary but while it is all stripped out I thought "what the hell..."
it will be welded to the floor bending the existing seat side supports to bolt to the SFA floor... The front seats were a sinch, jut cut out the cross support member to gain some height and bolted them done - DONE. the rear has taken some thought.
I looks really good though so it is well worth the effort and my kids love the idea of sitting on something comfortable for a change :wth:
will post some more "finished" pics on Monday...

Re: Alfa 156 seats into an SFA - new update
welded the backseat "clips" in place
outside the bak (welded and cut) ...inside the cab It isn't necessary to weld this, a threaded u-bolt and nuts would have done the job, I only welded in these "clips" because I am respaying anyway. Otherwise I wouldn't have bothered
making SLOOOOOW progress
this is not because of the seats being difficult to fit but because of all the other work I am doing on the truck.
Shouldn't take more than a weekend if you were just fitting the seats
