performance module....

Post by Joffy »

With reference to a topic I started a few days ago regarding chipping vs remapping on my Hilux I finally came up with a decision. As my bakkie is still under warranty I do not want to go the SAC route and hardwire a piggy-back system into her (playing it safe) and the remapping leaves a footprint on the ECU which should something go wrong is detectable. So I decided to go with the Chipbox.
However when I phoned in the sales guy there asked me to open the bonnet of my Hilux and tell him how many plugs were on the Performance module. I counted four. He told me that it was impossible as it should only have 2 or 3. So I sent him a photo and he told me he could not believe it. It is the first time he has ever seen a 2.5 with this module. Now I dont know much about this sort of thing.... Can someone please tell me what the performance module does and which one I have in my bakkie :shock2: . Is it a 3.0 module.... or a Fortuner module??? I would have thought they would have used the same thing.

Any help would be appreciated. I have attached pics below.

Thanks :surrender:

You should compare it to the 2.5 fortuner - those should have the same goodies.

Ask for a 2.5 Fortuner chip.

But eish, I would not trust a generic chip in my truck. At least with SAC/Dastek it gets programmed for your vehicle on a proper dyna and all parameters are checked, eg EGT, boost, etc.

That is the injector driver.... Get a Plug and Play Unichip........ :!: No cutting at all, done plenty! With the map on it you are good for a +- 15% increase.

Basically it takes the low voltage from the ecu and acts like a switching relay and switches the injectors on and off.
