40 000km dealer service

Post by WayneSchalk »

I took my Hilux in yesterday for the 40 000km service, the service consultant said it might take long as this is a major service.

2:30 I get a call to say the bakkie is ready. So I go pick it up, no bill as it is under service plan, all good. I get home and thought I'll have a look at the air filter as on the invoice they did not charge for a replacement.

So how do they decide when to change it, and would it not be best practice from them just to check it in any case?

Have a look below, that dirt is from shaking the filter a bit.

Your service booklet should state what gets replaced and when.

Use a black permanent marker to mark all service items with the km they have been replaced at. Never wonder again if things got replaced or not. Takes 5min to do after a service.

If I remember correctly the service schedule says the air filter should be replaced every 20 000 ks. So according to my understanding they should have replaced it now.

Airfilter is replaced at 30 000 km.

on 20 000 km I got my bakkie back with MUD in the air filter box .... NOT happy ...

on the flip side - check the gearbox and transfer case - they replaced these fluids on the 40 000km service.

jip, all oils including diff oil was changed, and even the aircon air filter was changed, but not the normal air filter :wth:

They gave me a call today and I told them about this, the lady called me back after talking to the service adviser and said that they visually inspected it and they think it is ok.

interesting but thanks for the heads up. ours is a 2012 model and going for the 40 000 km service next week. I will insist they replace the filter since we do a lot of gravel travel.

Ek gaan hulle volgende keer op my lux probeer.
