There is a breather pipe at the top, follow that pipe to the non return valve in the chassis, make sure the non return valve is clean.

Did you do that diff lock override mod which enables the difflock to also work in high range?

For those who do not know we refer to this difflock mod:
http://www.hilux4x4.co.za/hilux-diff-lock-mod/index.php

Johan it is a complex answer so get a cup of coffee;
Yes I also did the mod about 6 years ago, 22 January 2009 to be exact.
NO, I do not know if it was the difflock mod that caused my problems.
BUT
My difflock had the exact same symptoms.
I opened and cleaned the difflock motor twice and the problem was still there.
Then I took George's bakkie's difflock motor and put it into my bakkie after I removed my difflock motor which I would later put in George's bakkie. Problem was still there.
Then I took my control box out and put George's bakkie's control box in, just to put it back later on. In the process of doing I remembered somebody asking on a thread if it is not the mod causing the problem. So while putting George's bakkie's control box into my bakkie I also rveresed the mod sommer at the same time.

The problem was gone, difflock was working again. :yahoo:
I then swapped back the control boxes and the difflock was still working.

I still have George's difflock motor in my trokkie and both bakkies' difflocks are working again.

So maybe it was the mod, or maybe it was just a loose connector on the plug that plugs into the control box.

I did this the evening before leaving for the Kalahari so once it worked I did not feel like fiddling around trying to find out if it was the mod or not.
It is still working.

I suggest remove, clean and spuit spookpis on the plug that enters the control box. If that does not work and you did do the mod, reverse the mod and see if it works. If you did clean the connector but you have not done the mod and it is still not working then.......... keep on looking.
