Advice needed on SFA 2.2 EFI

Post by Bosfebok »

Hi fellow Luxers

I need some help. Couple of years ago I went EFI, but with a turbo as well. I want to take the vehicle back to just an EFI because it is extremely heavy on juice.

The current EFI is a Gotech MFI-X system that is firing the injectors in batch mode (0) (all firing at the same time).

So the question is :
- Is this the right mode for a normal EFI conversion?
- Does the batch mode not make your car very heavy on juice...as I can tell you, my 2.2 is now a guzzler.
- If not Mode 0, then which mode?
- Do I need to get anything extra to be able to fire the injector individually and at the right time and sequence?

I have a Toyota EFI intake.

Anyone you can recommend on the West Rand to assist me?

Many thanks.

As far as I know the Dictator also does batch firing... 2 injectors at a time which is what I'm running.
If possible go sequential although I doubt if that would have a significant effect on consumption.

Hi, batch firing is correct. You won't win anything with sequential injector firing. Sequential firing would require a much more accurate timing method like a crank timing sensor. The magnetic distributor based timing won't do.

IMHO, it's the turbo that's making it guzzle fuel!

I would rather go with Spitronics; can get far more accurate with the tuning. If I have money to burn I would swap out the Dictator in my current setup

I agree Stef, At this moment in time Spitronics is the more versatile ECU. However, it all rides on how that ECU is mapped, and that is the critical factor with all the different brands. Get the right guy to set it up and it could mean the difference between chalk and cheese. :winkx:

True...mine was done by Schalk so I'm sure it's as good as it can be, but the man himself said the rpm increments are finer on the Spitronics. I'm sure that if Dicktator decide to change the firmware to accommodate the same then for the EFi conversion on our 22R's it would be just as good.
