My Gear lever is very loose and has a lot of play on it, I was told that its a worn bush at the base of the lever.
Can anyone confirm this?
Anyone know what this bush costs and is it easy enough for me to replace myself??

Re: Loose gear lever
Might also be that the pins in the side of the gearbox tower are loose or worn

Re: Loose gear lever
Hi Mike, yes it's the bushings in the turret that are worn. They are not replaceable, but an engineering works can mill them out and fit proper bushes - alternately the elongated holes can be built up and re-machined. This is normally worth doing if you can only get replacements from the dealers (the whole assembly incl gear lever is sold as a unit). However there was a thread about 2 / 3 yrs back where someone sourced a new replacement at a very reasonable cost of about R1200 if memory serves correctly. Try N1 or A1 Bakkie Spares.

Re: Loose gear lever
From trying different tricks, filling with silicone does not work. Could not get rid of the grrr sound and the wobbly movement. Het nuwe gear lever gekoop by Toyota vir R1500 want geen scrap yard naby my het n gear lever gehaat nie. Dis iets wat jy self kan omruil. Iewers is daar n thread wat mooi wys hoe om uit te haal.
