Damn Lucky

Post by Bliksempie »

So I noticed a play on my steering after returning from Wildebeesfees this past weekend. Last night I had a look at the Drag Link, and noticed some play. Tightened the skrews again, and went to work today. The noise and play got even worse. Bought a new Drag Link this morning at Gemini spares @ R450.00. (Which was not to bad). Returning home, I was ready for a 10min job... Just to realise that the knuckle on the Pittman Arm wasn't feeling A Okay. Costed me another R600.00 at N1 4X4.Image Link Broken

Good thing you found out through inspection rather than the side of the road... Damn lucky indeed it held out for as long it did.

I know the feeling.NOt happy about the cost of the repair and the fact that something has Brocken on the vehicle.Big bonus is you managed to get home okay and safe and to be able to carry out the repair on your own turf.If one considers the other possibilities had the steering broke whilst travelling ????

Jis nee kyk Robbie...

Ek was regtig nie lus vir Chicken or Beef by hospitaal nie.

Ek het my ou Drag Link s'n sommer gebruik daarvoor. Ongelukkig was tyd 'n faktor gister middag, en moes toe noodgedwonge 'n Pittman Arm by N1 4X4 koop @ R600.00.

Sopas quote gekry op Pittman Arm by Gemini Spares = R800.00. Lyk presies dieselfde as die oorspronklike.

Balljoints on a SFA? Maybe you're referring to the tie-rod ends - those need to be checked as well (if there's no play on them they're good). Also check the ball on the "J" arm (where the other end of the draglink connects) - it's just as important as the one on the pitman. :winkx:

Why is it necessary to replace the whole drag link if you can just buy the kit with cubs and springs? Just for interest Allan (Hoppy) do still have stock of that round balls which come on the pitman and J arm for R350.00 each.

The N1 4x4 service kit for the draglink includes the balls, but are threaded on the stud whilst the originals are press fitted IIRC
