Hi all. I am in need of some assistance. My Kzte has this quirk when it comes to the fuel gauge.
When the tank is filled it will either show at the full Mark or above it (I don't think this is weird). Twist is when you start using the bakkie the guage is out by about 1/4 tank when I check the distance on the trip meter against the fuel used.
A tank fuel sender unit is around 2k at the stealers and a bwithanitch to fit as you have to drop the fuel tank.
My question is: is there a way to reliably determine if the fault is the tank sender or the guage itself without just throwing money at it to the tune of 2k for starters?
I have noticed that there is a debt in the lower one corner of the tank and am wondering if that has any impact on my issue I'm experiencing.
I would appreciate your advice.

Re: 2001 IFS KZTE fuel gauge issue
Hi Theuns
I had a similar issue with my previous bakkie. A KZ. Fuel gauge would get stuck or simply drop to zero. The negative contact on the fuel sender above the tank became corroded and eventually broke off.
I bought a entire sender unit from Toyota for R1200 in Feb 2016. They give up to 22% discount if you ask nicely. Dropping the tank was a female dog. But it wasn't so bad either. I used ratchet straps to raise and lower the tank. I bought a small fuel pump to drain the tank. Simply disconnect the forward fuel line and plumb in the pump. Job was done on a Saturday morning by me, myself and I.

Do you mind sharing how to losen the tank bracket correctly so I don't end up dropping the whole thing on the driveway?
Thank you very much.

Re: RE: Re: 2001 IFS KZTE fuel gauge issue
Used 2 ratchet straps attached to the chassis rails to hold and lower it. The empty tank doesn't weigh very much. If its empty you could probably drop it on your chest without worry. Key thing is to get it empty. With a el cheapo 12v fuel pump connected to the rubber fuel lines coming from the tank its a straight forward job.Polarbear2008 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 27, 2017 9:48 pmHi JohannJohanW wrote:Hi Theuns
