16v head upgrade on the Toyota 4Y: Possible?

Post by monkslayer »

Hey guys,

I've been driving around an EFI converted Toyota 4Y engine for the last 3 years( Thanks Louise:-))and it has been a reliable tough as nuts piece of mechanical engineering. I do have a SA Van with the 2.5 five cyilinder Audi that came with the 10V and about to swap on a 20V head on it to really make it come alive. It therefore got me thinking, is it possible to do the same thing on the 4Y and uprate it to 16V from 8V? Has it ever been tried?

I'm really considering this project if feasible therefore any ideas on the possible head swap options are welcome!

Thank you in advance,
Cheers.

Hi. Not possible. The 4Y is not a cross-flow motor and its also not OHC. :winkx:
When your road comes to an end ...... you need a HILUX!.
