My Son recently purchased a 2010 Fortuner 3.0 D-4D 4x4 with 120 000km on the clock. Drove like a new car. We then did a lubrication service. All oils to spec including volumes. Now all of a sudden the gearbox is sticky. Sorry but a clutch and or synchro rings don't wear out over night. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
P. s. I also have as eleven year old Fort that I've maintained for years without any such problems.

What oil did you put in the box? Brand and viscosity?

Re: Sticky gearbox
Here is an interesting video about GL4 and GL5, BUT, also check the test the guy did with same viscosity of oils of different brands.
This might explain why some oils result in sticky gears and others not.
The video will start at 11:35 because before that he just shows how he strips a gearbox.
Enjoy

Re: Sticky gearbox
They should use Castrol Syntrans Multivehicle. Made a huge difference to how smooth the gearbox was.
