Pedal position sensor replacement

I have a kdn165 hilux with a 2kd engine.

I am looking to replace the pedal position sensor found by the pedal, from what i gathered it is basically a potentiometer.

Has anyone ever changed one? Can you give me some pointers in terms of calibrating the new one? What resistance am i looking for with the pedal not pressed?
