KZTE help needed

Post by Splitpin »

Hi Guys

I wonder if someone here can help me out with my KZTE immobilizer. Battery went flat and after replacing the remote doesn't work on the vehicle. I'm in the eastern cape and Toyota Uitenhage couldn't help me. Any help or direction would be appreciated.

Have you checked all the fuses? Could be that a fuse blew with the replacement of the battery. Could even just be a poor connection being made at the fuse box. You could also locate the immobilizer unit and check that there is power to it. Not sure about the KZTE but on thy SFA's it was usually located behind the passenger side kick panel and the fuses behind the drivers side kick panel (there could also be a fuse or two inside the cab on the firewall behind the glove box.

Behind the kick panel next to your right foot, or is it now at your right knee(???) there is a place where you can plug in the remote - the backside with the metal strip.

Pop the remote in there and the hooter should honk(IIRC) and bob's your uncle!

Silly question, but is the new battery 100%? Is it making proper contact? Is there a little red light or not on the remote to indicate whether its working or not? Presumably you only have the one remote, not a duplicate?

Hi Mud
No I have not. Will try that. Do you know of any pdf files that show the diagrams?

Hi Thabo
I have tried that option and held it for 20 seconds and pushed the button for 20 second but no luck. I'll buy another new battery and check some connections.

Hi F_D
Battery is new. Light on the remote turns on when button is pushed. its a red light. as soon as i plug it into that socket where the fuses are located the red light on the remote stays on. And yes I only have the one remote.

Do a google search for KZTE wiring diagrams .... there are some out there for download. I think the files were just too big for the forum software limits to be uploaded here. good luck. :winkx:

This solution from Thabo worked for me too when the remote would not work. Make sure the metal contacts on the remote are nice and shiny/clean or else it wont make a good connection into the socket...

Is there a certain procedure? Like door open, ignition on, press the button??

My remote would not unlock the car so i used the key in the door to unlock the vehicle. The alarm sounded and i pull the fuse cover off an plugged in the remote. The alarm stopped and the remote worked again to lock and unlock the central locking. Car started fine. Does your remote lock and unlock the bakkie ?

Hi KZTE Nut

The remote is supposed to do so but doesn't. Not sure what the problem is. This was after battery replacement on the remote. Is there a way to reprogram the remote?

if the only variable that changed was the remote, to me it sound like the problem lies there.
maybe when replacing battery some dry joint in board got disturbed. maybe after the light , but before the part of circuit that sends signal.

is there a way to check if remote is actually sending signal?
like using your phone camera to check if tv remote IR light is actually working.

Try measure the voltage of the battery, might be an oldish one and lost some of its charge. Try measure with no load as well as when pressing the remote button if you possibly can.
