Looking for Electric cooling fans & forced air oil cooler

Post by Zantus »

I've currently two 12" fans on the 740 radiator in my lux. The fans are 65mm thick, but I've got space for something 90mm thick, so I'm looking for 12" fans that have a bit more power than the aircon fans with a maximum height of 90mm.
Secondly I'm looking for some 8" fans to mount on my aircon condensor behind the bumper, as I don't have space for fans to cover entire condensor....fans on only part of the condensor is better than no fans at all.
Then I'm also looking for a high volume gearbox oil cooler with forced air cooling, somthing similar to the pic below.
Any suggestions on either the fans or the cooler :?:

Hi Barto,

For the oil coolers, try:

CHE Heat Transfer Products http://www.che.co.za/
79 Grahamstown Rd
North End
PE
(Next to India Bolt and Nut)
041-4871346

They sell Schwarte Engineering Oil Coolers, factory is in Paarl. The do custom units, and off
the shelf depending on your application.

I spoke to them when I was doing my V6 conversion. They did an oil cooler for a friend of mines quad bike too.

For the fans, I don't know, other than that I see Midas is now selling a range of electric fans.

I bought my current fans from Silverton, but I think it might the same as those at Midas. Will have to go see. I was also thinking of getting a bigger custom radiator from CHE, but I have no idea what it will cost :?

When I needed a bigger radiator for the V6 conversion, I got a price from Silverton (R1300) and
CHE(R1800). I got Silverton to take the Hilux 2.4 Diesel radiator which is a Triple core and just change the coolant in and out pipe fitting locations to match the Ford motor. This works well, and I've had no problems with temperature, and that V6 generates a lot of heat.
The nice thing with the Diesel rad in my case was that the mounting points are the same, they just also had to shorten it slightly to clear the power steering pipes.

Is the 740 Radiator not big enough for the Lexus machine?

Bennie, I think it's the fan set-up rather than the radiator itself. With the smaller radiator and different fan set-up, the fan came on much sooner, but kept the temperature down for longer. I spoke to Pierre Becker(Freakazoid), and on his patrol the fans pull the temperature down from red to normal in a minute....on mine, if it gets to 3/4 I have to switch off, because it will take 20 minutes to come down again.

As I posted on 4x4comm. earlier, Kenlowe makes exacty what I'm looking for. A 13" high output fan with 50% better cooling ability than the standard jobbies.....and the standard Kenlowe is already stronger than the 12" and even the 14" fan Hot4Cold sells and I currently have in my bakkie.

Kenlowe is also very expensive, so I'll have to see what I'll do once I've tracked down a local supplier and got some prices.

A question form my side.
I have a 8" electric fan that I want to install on my ac condensor. What would be the best way to mount it? It looks the same as the picture that Zantus post.
Can it be mounted directly on the condensor?

Leon, ek sal hom sommer deur die condensor mount, tensy jy brackets wil maak, maar die belangrikste is dat hy styf teen die condensor sit.
