SFA Reverse Light switch
Hi All
Can anyone tell me where the switch is located for the reverse lights?
Is it internal to the gearbox?
Am having a couple of wiring problems which I am trying to troubleshoot.
Cheers

Re: SFA Reverse Light switch
The reverse light switch is on the drivers side of the G52 gearbox. Follow the wires, it's the front one. The rear switch is for the 4WD indicator light.

Of course he doesn't, he took out his gearbox especially for you to see where the switch is located... That's what we do!!!

Re: SFA Reverse Light switch
Because I'm such a helpful chap, I put the gearbox back so you can see pics in situ with perspective
Riaan (ToyX4) also wanted the wiring colours, so I did some work tonight
Here is a pic of the wiring running from the 4WD switch (red wire with yellow trace marked R-Y in workshop manual) and the reverse light switch (red wire with black trace?? marked R-B in the workshop manual, and red wire with some trace, can't see so well, marked B-O R in the workshop manual) upwards towards the cab floor transmission tunnel. In the second pic you can see the 3 wires going through a grommet into the cab floor just in front of the gearlever.
Here are the scanned diagrams from the Hilux workshop manual for the wiring. SA models should be the same or similar.
NOTE: I typed wrong here in the pic - should say RED WIRE WITH YELLOW TRACE, not orange.
Happy wiring !

Re: SFA Reverse Light switch
They get sticky with age, take it out, spray it full of contact cleaner and see if that helps, otherwise see if you can source a 2nd hand replacement
Happy trails

Re: SFA Reverse Light switch
It sounds like a sticky switch problem (hopefully it's only that), but it could also be that it's worn.
