Front Brake Calipers Ratteling noise

Post by JohanM »

For those that are driving the SFA with solid discs in the front and hearing a metallic ratteling noise and occasional clunk/ clapping when applying brakes.

Have a look (Take the front wheels off) and see if there is anti rattle springs that fits over the sliding pins off the brake pads.

Here is a picture taken from my Hilux

The part no for this OE part is : 04947 60060

IIRC the cost was approx R 70-00 incl vat for both sides. I keep a spare set in my "magic" box as they tend to get weak with age and the temperature and the just sometimes breaks when replacing the pads.

Take note that the brake pads does not come with these kits. These are to be ordered as they are most of the times not in stock.

Scott, I actually ordered two sets thinking that it should fit both sliding pins.......... but in fact it only fits the lower sliding pin on the caliper, and it stops the noise.

I tried to fit both sets but the caliper is not big enough to fit two sets....

Ordered 4 from Toyota @ R56 per spring.
I will check if it needs all 4 and if not then I will also have 2 spare to keep in the spares box.

Tried Gemini, but it is only a stealer part.
