Looks like a really great adventure .... absolutely looking forward to more!
When your road comes to an end ...... you need a HILUX!.
Life is like a jar of Jalapeño peppers ... what you do today, might burn your ass tomorrow.
Don't take life too seriously ..... no-one gets out alive.
It's not about waiting for storms to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain.
And be yourself ..... everyone else is taken!

Traveling through the desert was an awesome experience. At night times it would get so quiet that you can hear nothingggggg, not a dog barking no wind ,no vehicle sounds ,no kids or wife turning in their sleep only the sound of silence

And then we ha GROOT *a*@s it was the cruiser leading the convoy it just went belly down on the beach with a tide coming in.The beach was like a waterbed,if you jump on it a whole part of it would move, first time in my life I saw something like it.Luckily we could recover in time.

That's amazing! Usually the closer you get to the waters edge, the harder the sand is packed. That Cruiser really sank away!

Re: Toyota desert fleet Luderits to Walvisbaai
We got to an old diamond mining village in the desert where I was amazed at how intact all was except for metal things that just rusted away. Our guide told us that it was deserted in 1910 and after he was asked if there was any dozers in 1910 he said that it was indeed a steam dozer that was left there.

Re: Toyota desert fleet Luderits to Walvisbaai
There were 4x diesel cruisers ,2x new 4l v6 petrol and 8x 4.5EFI petrol cruisers. The diesel cruisers did not like the steep dunes at all,at one stage we had all the diesel cruisers in the bottom of a huge hole in the dunes and they just couldn't get out.A 4.5 EFI went in and drove up and down the one side of the dune compacting the sand and then the diesels got out. The 4.5s were the kings out there, they just flew up those dunes. In the one pick jou saw one cruiser overshooting a dune, that was a 4.5EFI.No diesels made it up there.Gunta wrote:Awesome pics Wim.
