Montagu fun

Post by african dust »

made a quick dash to montagu to get some work done...but all work and no play makes one dull and grey!
took of the canopy and the roofrack and turned the "groen gevaarte" into a work "trok" then managed to sneak in a few hours of short but steep mountain 4X4 fun.
not sure if post pics is going as should but hopefully one gets the idea.

Matthieu was that on private land? Where about around Montagu was that? Those mountains have some nice tracks. Pity MontEco closed down, I used to have lots of fun on those trails. Looks like alot of fun!

When your road comes to an end ...... you need a HILUX!.

yes, I was lucky or made my own luck and bought the property. sure it will feature in the future 4x4 hilux team trips. it is less about long 4X4 routes but more about short tough 4X4 and then nature, peace and chill out time. back at work now makes it seem like a lifetime ago that I was there. place is about 20km from montagu, not far from sanbona game reserve..have left breadcrumbs to lure all the bokkies from there to my place.
the Ltd was ressurrected from the dead with dollops of money and tlc and I am happy to say she is doing all the good things that a hilux should be doing !

Nice pictures Matt. I've had the privilege of meeting Matt when he was there and I also did the trail with him. It is a beautiful farm. That track is very steep with loose rocks. It sommer starts off steep. If you do not have a diff lock you will not get up there. It starts steep and continues like that for about 600 meters. No space for getting momentum and even if you did get momentum it will not last for 600 meters. So the only way is with a diff lock, slowly crawling up and trying your best to prevent wheel spin. There is also no space to turn around. Once you started you must continue untill you at the top.

the 600m climb feels like 6000m when you are walking it....or 600000 when you are trying to get up there without diff lock !
