For some silly reason, I thought the train was due here at 12:00 Midday, but Bennie did say 2:00 PM, so glad you posted this Rich, or I would have had a long wait at the Station!
BUT First Up is UNCLE ERIC, he's gonna slip Bennie some sweeties when it calls in at Klerky's

This is a bit of a problem, one of the kids (I think Corne', can't remember... might be Eddie) is allergic to certain things in some sweets, so I chose the (hopefully) easier way and got some assorted biscuits and Oros instead. Anyway, Charmaine will sort out what is and is not suitable.

UPDATE: While I was typing this, got an SMS stating the train is one hour 20 minutes late. Hope it's here before nightfall, it's Diesel (Electric) after all ;)

Traffic from PTA to JHB was a killer but we made it in time only for the train to leave JHB station an hour and 20 minutes late, but since then it is smooth sailing.

We just passed Potch onroute to Klerksdorp for a 15 minute stop where Eric is going to feed us some peanuts through the window.

Sien julle capies more.

OK, I have just come back from the station, it was good to see them again! The train got there 3:15pm, about a minute after I arrived at the station and convinced the security to let me through. I didn't know which Platform it would be arriving on, and Klerksdorp station is beeeeg - we even have two platforms ;)

The scheduled 15 minute stop was only 5 minutes tho' and we never had chance to say much before the train left again. They should arrive at around 12 midday tomorrow, all going well. Sadly, in my rush to get there on time, I never noticed Corne's "Slinky Spring" toy fall out of my P'nP packet until we opened the packet, and there was no time to get it before the train pulled off again  But anyway, both Corne' & Eddie can share the jigsaw puzzle :)

Oh, they definitely will see the sun rise, will be hundreds of kilos still to go before they reach the little village at the toe-end of Suderlike Afrika. And - for all you Capies - we have GLORIOUS SUNNY WEATHER here at the mo'!

My first flippin day when I feel that I can do something without my heart feeling like it's gonna pop outa my chest and blow-me 5 mins into cleaning my garage and the Nanny calls.......

"Car he broke Bossy :!: :!: "

So after recovering her with the trusty Lux, I've spent the whole damned day with my head under the bonnet of a Polo Player 1.4i Classic, well not the whole day cos I've been to three VW Spares Shops to find Parts :x :x

Hey Rich - the coldest day in mid-winter here will always seem warm to a Yorkshireman! I have friends who came from your part of the world who arrived here in July some years ago. We were shivering from the cold, they were basking in their new-found warmth! :D:

Unchanged, bar the scrap metal, paint tins and cardboard boxes.

Fortunately, I have a 2nd Garage where you can still swing a cat :P

Will pitch Bennie's Tent before mid-night, don't like pitching tents in the rain :o: :o: :P

Hey Eric,

Thys was right! It's miserable here today, grey, pouring with rain and the wind's howling! Did I mention cold!

I took my lux through to Richard's place last night, I'm from the north suburbs of Cape Town, the wide open places, Richard is on the otherside of the boerewors curtain, the southern suburbs. I find this difficult to admit being a man... I GOT LOST! I felt like I was stuck on a snakes and ladders board game! Narrow roads, one ways and cul-de-sac... Well eventually I found my way... eventually after 3 calls to Richard and 3 checks on the map.

I even performed a 10 point parking maneuver to get my lux in the garage!

Thanks Richards for the hospitality and going way out of your way to get me home! DANKIE LIMEY!

Bretton,

I was in JHB all my life until I moved to Klerksdorp. In Joey's you never really managed to get lost, because you could always see the City skyscrapers form practically anywhere. Then I moved to Klerksdorp. I got lost after two days here :( But the worst place for getting lost just has to be Welkom... roads, circles more roads and more circles. There were no robots either in Welkom when I was last lost  there, not sure if they have any now.

Rich, did Bennie mention to you... I have asked him to remove your BM seats from your Hilux and bring them back to me :P

Eric, Observatory where Richard lives in one of the oldest suburbs of Cape Town, if not South Africa, hence the roads are really narrow, but the upside is the houses and pretty old, solidly built(from granite) and full of old style character that money can't buy!

Yes Richard I like your shack :D , I like the way you adjoined Bennie's tent straight to the workshop, ingenious! But I wonder where the kids will sleep? And Charmaine? :? I have another tent if needed

Guys

Bennie's Diktator Mod to the Train seems to have paid off, it just left Worcester, now only 30 mins late :o: :P

The Big rain and strong winds blow my cardboard tarps off the roof again, got to remember to scalem more bricks hey :P

The tent is a little soggy but the mildew seems to be doing a great job of growing over the rips in the flysheet :o:

I'm just putting on a Headock Broth (boiled sheeps head) for the Mense, they'll probably be lank hungry when they arrive; shame Barr-braaar only had TWO eyes, that's the best bit :o: :P

I'm just trying to round up Eric (my renegade Goat) cos he has a nasty habit of eating tents

UPDATE GUYS:

Bennie and Family arrived 2 hrs late, which is a good job really cos' I got Back ended on the way.

When a "Township Car"; 1 x Ford Laser, hits a stationery Honda Ballade which is behind a Stationary Hilux (with brakes on) you get the following result:

Laser - Totalled - driver's head breaks windshield :o: :o:
Honda Balade - Written Off - 2 metres shorter than standard - rear axle off, female pensioner driver in Ambulance :o: :o:
Hilux - small scuff mark to rear tow bars :P

Hope everybody is fine. It take it the Ford driver drove to fast for the wet road surface and couldn't brake fast enough.... or tried to take a gap which there weren't

Rich, just check where the towbar attaches to your chassis if there is any damage. Happened to my dad in his brand new 100 VX about 9 years ago on the way to work. Taxi hit him on a dry road in broad daylight in the right hand lane and his excuse? "Eish, no brakes..." Needless to say the only injuries sustained was by the taxi driver...

Quick update for all on the Bennie Cape Town trip...

Bennie, Charmaine and kids all arrived in one piece, with many many pieces of efi stuff... :) Yes Bennie is much bigger than me, so I maybe be sleeping in the kennel  , in fact Richard and I look like 2 english dwarfs in comparison.

Last night we made a really tentative start on my bakkie, just stripped the intake mani and carb out the way, checked what else we need... and checked out the mod'd dizzi's Bennie brought with, this man is a perfectionist! This morning, Bennie and Richard have taken my lux over to an exhaust plekkie to have the no.1 exhaust manifold dinged in slightly, to make space for the efi intake. I've been sourcing 1 or 2 bits we need... with Hoppy's help...
