Hi All

About a week ago me,The Mighty 90 and SWAMBO took a road trip to the beautiful Baviaanskloof.
We went via Oudtshoorn and entered from the Willomore side.

The first night we stayed at Uitspan. This is a farm on the beginning of the Kloof.
This is a really nice spot. You have your own camping site and ablution block. The place is really kept clean and maintained.

The next day we left for Doring kloof. Here we stayed for 2 days.
Also a very nice spot. You get a nice spot overlooking a dam.The owner is very friendly and there is a little tuck shop with wood and ice and some bits and bobs.Just lock everything there is a large troop of monkeys.
There is a 4x4 route and walking and MTB trails.I did not do the 4x4 Trails ,but we did do some walking trails.
This is quite a large kampsite and can accomodate quite a few people.Very nice place for a Easter/Western Cape GTG :siffler:

After 2 days we left for the reserve/park. We had a nice drive through the Baviaans reserve.
It is not a difficult route and you dont require 4wd,but proper ground clearance is a must.Unless you drive a Avis golf.

Our last night in the Kloof we stayed at Bruintjies Kraal.a Bit more rustic , again your own campsite.
You are right on the waters edge and a lot of bird life. We even had 2 "Witkruis arende" circling above us.
They were after this :laugh2:

We made a nice springbok fillet with stuffed fetta chees.I didnt have tooth pics so used the local thorn trees

From there it was out of the Baviaans and we went to Graaf reinette to visit family.
The Baviaans will see me again.Awsome place

It was a awesome trip for us.The Mighty 90 was a pleasure to drive.I just love the darn thing.

After the Kloof I was chilled out and did 2 tanks driving a average of 110km per hours(2500 rpm) on the Karoo roads.
To my surprise the V6 gave me 8.4 km per litre :shock2: It did it on 2 tanks and I am very chuffed.
Unfortunately you cant keep the V6 tamed like that for ever :mocking:

Nice review George, and the Prado is cut out for just such an outing. You would have enjoyed the 4x4 trails as well. Economy is better than the Hilux of that era!

Agree, should maybe look at organising something early in the new year so as to give ample time for the guys to make arrangements. We could all meet at one end and go through together, maybe over a long weekend so that we can take our time and appreciate the sights / beauty of the area.

This would also be ideal for the PE guys to join in.

We're looking at planning a combined GTG through the kloof soon. See topic viewtopic.php?f=49&t=42155" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Easter weekend may well be an option. Your input (those that are interested) is wanted. :winkx:
