Hallo Jacques, fantasiese video samestelling en ek hou van die hommeltuig se videos. Daardie twee dae in die pas, hoeveel kilometer was dit.

Jacques,

Fantastic footage of the trip and awesome drone skills there too.

Interesting to note that from various reports on the pass that is seems to be very do-able to a almost car breaker depending on the weather and road conditions that is linked to it.

Also I have noticed the Prado to have done it in relative ease of terms and without any serious damage and that with factory side steps.. Really must have taken some careful driving at places.

Still one of the many discussed trails with reason as it can change in a day from good to nightmare.

Hi Johan

I am sure you are able to do it in almost any 4 wheel drive vehicle. (and I do emphasize ALMOST)
We had a real fun time when it started raining the Saturday morning as the rocks where very slippery.
As I experienced it, you at least need the following to be able to tackle Baboons Pass.

1. Decent ground clearance. The Pajero Sport was more than capable but we had to pack more rock for it to get over some obstacles,
and as you can see in the video it hit a rock on the bottom of the fuel tank and it restricted the flow of fuel to the engine.
2. Decent set of tyres. When it rains and gets slippery, it really comes in handy.
3. A good bunch of friends or crew to pack rocks. We spent most of the day packing rocks to be able to get over obstacles.

The Prado did good but you have to keep in mind the order of the vehicles in the convoy.
First vehicle in the line was the Jeep wit I think 33 inch tyres. It could climb over anything and only battled once.
Second vehicle was my Hilux that only had the leveling kit and rock sliders to assist it.
Third was the Prado and was stock standard. The side steps took a good beating and the rear bumper tore.
Forth and fifth the two Pajero's which only had bash plates and rock sliders.

The jeep climbed over first then I tackled the obstacle, once I battled we packed rocks and I went over.
This aided the Prado and it looks like it breezed though. After the Prado we had to pack rocks again for the Pajero.

But the main thing is to enjoy it and I would recommend it to everyone.
