REAL JEEPS ARE BUILT ......NOT BOUGHT
I decided about 5 years back i wanted a jeep, i searched high and low but with no happiness.... half the time u get
some guy that thinks his jeep, thats for sale, is the last one available in the southern hemisphere....so u get screwed,
I then decided to build my own jeep the way i wanted it.... I went out and bought a "tupperware" body from a company that was selling jeep wrangler shape bodies..... this was
the start of a 2 year relationship......if anyone tells u its an easy task to build something up from the ground.....they are
probably going to do a half arsed job of it !
I chose to put a V6 chevy with fuel injection in , MR TURBO engine managment and a 5 speed toyota 4X4gearbox. I shoved a set of landcruiser blades in the front and rear
the rig runs on hilux diffs with a gearmax in the rear.
now the fun starts....all those hours of fab work and thought....its like playing chess with yourself ...you can figure the next move but you're constantly concerned about screwing yourself 5 moves on.....fun
Once everything was fabricated and pre assembled i had the whole lot sandblasted then i did the prep and paint
Theres alot of hours that goes into a project of this scale, but u must never forget to enjoy yourself while u busy.....
cheers for now i'll post some more pics and info soon....

Cool

heres a pic of the tub on the chassis before the motor was fitted to do the exhuast system,i then did all the plumbing of fuel
and brake lines etc...
heres the almost finished project...took some time to build the frame work for the soft-top and add the windows and let every
thing work together. Now all that was left to do was wheel the hell out of it.......thats the fun part !

Cool ride. I can see why you said it took so long to build, some serious effort put into it. I'll take one like that any day over a so called "real" Jeep

Re: REAL JEEPS ARE BUILT ......NOT BOUGHT
I took bulldog to Noise Boys today to replace the rear silencer and shift the tail pipe further away from the LR tank. Must say it looked good up there on the hi-lift jack. The guy who was having his car's exhaust repaired next to me thought so as well, he wanted to buy Bulldog there and then!
That makes about five offers so far :) No wonder the Merc sleeps outside and Bulldog is locked up safe & sound in the garage.

I guess you will have to install extra locks on the inside of the garage doors as well that you can lock at night. I may just come steel her back

Het jy baie geld? Die enigste rede hoekom ek Bulldog vir Eric leen is omdat hy so lief is vir SFAs en bereid is om baie geld aan my bakkie te spandeer, anners het ek nie Bulldog nie vir hom geleen nie.

Eric. I think you need to invest in some sort of tracking system for Bulldog cause Bennie might want to come and borrow him

I have bought thick heavy duty chains that pass through the rims and are bolted to solid rings mounted into solid reinforced concrete on my garage floor. I have connected Bulldog 10 an 11kv electrical supply that will fry any unauthorised attemp at even touching the bodywork.
I am getting a couple of puff adders today that I will lock inside Bulldog to further attack any would-be intruder.
Any more ideas?

Maybe a proximity sensor that will trigger pepper gas gun or even a flame thrower if you come within 1m of it without deactivating it with a remote. The put a lockable non-return valve on you brake line so that if you depress the brake pedal once, the wheels lock until unlocked with a key.
The other alternative is to hit Bennie over the head and implant some sort of tracking device in him which will discharge an electric jolt if he come with in 1m of Bulldog.
