DIY Canopy Kitchenette
I wan to build a Kitchenette for my alu canopy, BUT, I want to make it removable so that I can take it out when I'm not camping.
Could you upload some of your kitchen pics and ideas? I I have an Idea how I am going to make it but would like to see the Ideas going around

Re: DIY Canopy Kitchenette
I have thought hard about this, as well as a pub/ bar.
I had two spare wheels on the Hilux's rear bumper. The weight from those spare absolutely trashed my front suspension and so the wheels were taken off. This left me with two spare wheel bracket/ arms on the rear bumper with nothing to put on there. A while later I was in Agri farm and saw a "Patio Bar" that was a stainless steel box with a shelf that opened downwards to create a serving area on the inside of the steel box. I bought it and started modifying...
1. Carpeted the entire inside. This made it less resilient to breaking bottles that came loose. Also stopped dust ingestion as it created a barrier where the door closed.
2. Added bungy cord so that I could secure the bits and bottles.
3. Mounted it to one of the spare wheel brackets.
Now I can use it up against the rear bumper or swing it open and out of the way of the tail gate, still useable.
When I get a chance I will take pics.
Advantages:
I no longer have to go digging in the canopy for glasses/ bottles/ bottle openers etc.
Ease of access.
Ease of use.
Lockable.
Has it's own table top for place to pour/ ice bucket etc.
Storage place for 4 bottles, cocktail shaker with swizzle sticks and small umbrellas, wine bottle opener, optics, 6 steel mugs, small ice bucket.
Disadvantages:
None so far.
Bearing all of this in mind ... I might just use the other spare wheel bracket to put on another "patio braai" and modify that to become a kitchen. Size wise it will ba a bit small for pots and pans but if I could get a larger one that was deep enough to take a set of pots and pans then I am sure that it would work and work well.

Re: DIY Canopy Kitchenette

Mine sits below the RTT and above the bin, but is permanently mounted. The door opens upwards and below is a light for cooking at night. The kitchen slides out and has a two plate gas stove, space for pots, plates, spices, wash basin, cups and cutlery, will post pics of it open when I get a chance. Gas bottle sits in the bin for now but in future will be mounted on the roof to make a bit of space.

Cleaner, I see they fit a table on the inside of the fold-down door, which is on a lower level. I think Alu-cab does it.

Re: DIY Canopy Kitchenette
