I am building a canopy for over landing.

Keep us posted.

Just my observation: I like the overhang at the back, but maybe slope it at an angle so that you don't compromise your departure angles as much. Your thoughts?

I think he might be safe as the canopy is a fair distance off the ground.

Great to see the owner of the vehicle doing the project by himself and not sending it out to the professionals out there to do.No matter what the project is from an overland canopy to a special braai light,one gets a lot of satisfaction and feeling of achievment by doing the project by yourself ( a friend or two can give input and help,but thats what mates are for).
Your project looks great so far,kindly keep us updated with the progress.

I am presently building a dedicated camper onto the chassis of my hilux, after removing and selling the loadbin. I will post fotos of the project from start to finish when done.

As the project progresses you will see how all the small items COST :thumbdown: but keep going and hopefully soon the project will be finished.

I made it 300mm longer so i can sleep in it. You will see the end product.

Dit lyk na BAIE lekker projek.
Ek stel baie belang in so iets.

Net paar vrae:
Wat is die beplanning om die ligte sigbaar te hou? ( My IFS sal nog moeilikker wees met die ligte op die buitekant van die tailgate.)

Hoe kom die canopy vas aan die loadbin ? Gaan die normale PVC brackets genoeg wees?

Kan jy nog steeds iets sleep? ( moeilik by die towbar te kom)

Ek wag geduldig vir meer fotos om te leer van jou projek.

As jy kyk na die volgende fotoes sal jy sien hoe ek hom vas maak. Ek sal nog kan sleep al is dit biekie mooilik om by die sleep stang uit te kom. Die ligte is geen probleem want as jy in n ander voertuig agter dit Hilux is kan jy hulle nog duidelik sien. As jou ligte aan die kand van die bak sit sal jy die virlenging smaler moet maak.

Boet dit lyk nogal na n lekker projek :)

Wat is jou rede vir die verlenging ? Meer pak spasie, of lengte vir slaap ?



Ek sien jou bumper het die gate vir spaar wiel swaai arms ... waar gaan jy nou nou spaar wiel sit ? Sal jy dit kan bykom as dit onder is ??

Die virlenging is vir slaap. Ek het nooit die spaarwiel projek klaar gemaak nie. Die spaarwiel sit onder maar ek sal nog n spaarwiel op die roofrak sit. Ek wag op die oomblik vir die plaat dan kan ek weer aangaan.

Boet ons het ook so in ons bakkie geslaap, eerste weergawe van Elders.


die een probleem wat ons ervaar het was dat mens sukkel om klere uit-en aan te trek in die bakkie.

Ons het later n Oz tent gebruik suiwer as aantrek kamer.

Ons het al n hele paar weergawes gesien van wat mense doen om n "kamer" te skep ....

Ek sien jy het n oop kant van n square tubing wat by jou roof-rack wys - DIT is n handige plek vir n dunner tubing om in te pas .... U-shape wat daar indruk, dan twee verstelbare downpipes, en canvas wat oor die tent raam pas .... Dit behoort sekondes te vat om op te slaan, en sal BAIE handig wees :)
