Good day Guys,

Ever since I took ownership of my 2018 Toyota Hilux 2.4GD-6 D/C 4x4 A/T, I wanted to get a canopy but the funds didn't allow for that then....

Most of the canopies that are available on the market today have a lot to offer but didn't tick the right boxes for me. Either pricing, finish or design has kept me from committing to buy one.

A friend of mine did his own for his Hilux Vigo and that convinced me to go the same way. After A LOT of thinking and concept studies I was willing to give the design a go.

Firstly it started off with some CAD... (Cardboard Aided Design)...

Followed by some proper CAD by means of Autodesk Inventor...

Fortunately my line of work puts me in contact with sheet metal fabricators and I have enlisted their help.

The frame is made from Mild Steel. Laser cut and CNC bent. Doors will be made from Mild steel frame and clad in Aluminium sheet. The roof will also be Aluminium sheet. The finish will be done with Raptor Coat as I think it will give it a unique finish. Best of all the product can be tinted to any desired colour. Will be a two tone finish to match the existing colours on my Hilux.

The first test fit...

Its home to finish off the remainder of the work.

You will see some similarities of some of the models available on the market today but most of it's pure coincidence as I just wanted a shape to follow the lines and contours that the Revo has.

I hope to have it complete before December.... Lots of late nights await.

Hi guys,

Been a while since my last update... I have been in Namibia from 18 November to 22 December for work. I came back, finished the canopy just in time to go to Tsitsikama in the Eastern Cape. Had a awesome holiday and returned home on 4 Jan and left to Namibia again the 5th.

Anyway here are some pictures of the completed canopy. Still need to do the Roof rack, but that will be later this year...
