Old Car Speed Records

Interesting to see most land speed records between 1898 and 1899 were held by electric cars.

In the same article;

This petrol car is amazing, check the size of that piston. 25 liter V8 in 1905

This 1905 one-off Darracq appears to be the very first car built from scratch to contain a V8 engine. And what an engine it was. Four sets of pair-cast cylinders with a swept volume of 25,422 cc producing 200 hp in a car that weighed just 900 kg (1982 lb). Streamlining was for weaklings. This is the epitome of the brute power approach.

Yoh! That's one big piston! And 25lit for a vehicle that weighs in at a fraction above half of my Lux! It's kinda insane by today's standards but with motor technology barely still in it's infancy at that time I suppose they needed that to generate 200 horses .... nowadays you can get that out of a 2lit 4 cylinder motor if you want to.
When your road comes to an end ...... you need a HILUX!.

Life is like a jar of Jalapeño peppers ... what you do today, might burn your ass tomorrow.
Don't take life too seriously ..... no-one gets out alive.
It's not about waiting for storms to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain.
And be yourself ..... everyone else is taken!
