Loerie 4x4 trail near PE

Post by Sifu-Lux »

On Saturday I joined the EC-Offroad outing to Loerie arranged by Barto.

You can see his trail report here: http://www.ec-offroad.co.za/trip-report ... nuary-2009

It was a great day out, with a big group, but still a lot of fun. It is also nice to see what the other vehicles are capable of, especially the expensive Disco 3's etc. I must say they were quite impressive being computers on wheels on the one hill climb.

On the one hill climb called Golaith, my trusty Hilux was one of only a few vehicles that attempted it to actually get up the steep and loose rocky trail. Two other SFA double cabs (a 4Y and 22R) got stuck half way up. But success was not altogether without it's incidents...

Just near the top of the climb, in 2 low at 5000 RPM, I ventured slighty off the spoor to look for more traction, and hit an ant hill which bounced me suddenly to the left, and into a game fence, snapping one of the fence poles with my bull bar. I also lost the corner of the bumper :) Battles scars for the day

All in all, a great day, with some real fun.

Andrew as far as I know the grey hilux has a turbo diesel and the white one has a 2.7VVTi engine. Or at least that is what the guy from LA Sport told me.

The hill where Andrew hit the fence is a grade 4, the rest is grade 2-3.

Do I see a project for a home built integrated bullbar on the horizon?

Hmmm, I almost took the bullbar off a few weeks ago to do some measuring, glad I didn't...

Glad to hear you weren't to badly hurt in your accident, and hope you recover soon.
