Dyno day - 30 Aug 2014

Post by CasKru »

If we arrange a dyno day, who would be interested?

This will be hosted by Dastek near Waterkloof Air force base in Pta. You will be able to have your vehicle tested and depending on the numbers, maybe tweak it and test it again. We will also provide a lekker boerie roll with cold drink.

Except for this we will get a guided tour and some background info on dyno testing etc by the masterbrain behind the Unichip, Pieter de Weerdt.

All this for R50.

Who would be interested if we arrange this for end July begin August?

I will be!!

I am still contemplating taking the bakkie in for a proper dyno to see if all is fine after the accident (but am a bit scared i might get an answer I dont like). So if i can get this done and sommer see how its done it will be great.

Maybe pushing it but cant mister Unichip make a good deal on hte unichip add on that allow you to chose different mappings on hte go?? This still stays in hte back of my mind but dont know if its wort the money Steves quote me for it. I think they call it the Uni-Q...

That sounds like a brilliant idea
And the price isn't too bad either
Only slight problem is that it is 1600km away

Wow that is a great idea ! Pieter de Weerdt is a genius - father of the unichip.
Years back my brother bought his Class A - GTi Challenge Class A Golf (Driver :Andre Haupt) and together they set up that car with a data logger - resulting in overall Class A championship that year.
Those days they operated from Erasmusrand Motors - before building the Dastek Building.

Pity I am so far away - R50 is a bargain - we pay R100 here in CPT everytime our group enters a dyno day.

Just a note... this is not a Dyno tuning day (a tweak here or there excluded) but a dyno run day where you can check your vehicles current performance

Just some clarity. You pitch on the day with the vehicle you want to test. If it's got wheels, you can test it. I would advice against testing your mountain bikes, wheelbarrows, shopping trolleys etc.

Each vehicle gets a turn on the dyno. The vehicle gets pulled into position and gets strapped in place. The run starts. After the run, you get your results and the vehicle is moved of the dyno. Then it's the next vehicles turn. If you want to see the effect removing your air cleaner does or maybe advancing the timing by 1°, then you have to park your van back in the queue and wait till everyone has had there turn and if there is time left, you can have another run.
