In the past there used to be some arrangement to GTG at least monthly for a day of 4x4 day for the local Gauteng, or northern guys, yes I'm not including the capies who seem to be going well with day/weekend outings, but since the YEF at Heidelberg NOTHING has happened except loads of pics with upgrades and mods and and and ..........

Naweek weer n paar nice ouens by mabalingwe so ontmoet...

Hi guys, it seems like the current EC's up your way are having some difficulty coping with events at the moment for various reasons.

So we're looking for anyone who would like to jump in and organise an outing - Neil (Thunder02) might not be able to attend at this stage but is available for assistance in organising. I think the same might be the case with Quentin since he has just lost his Lux to affirmative shopping. If there's some way I can help from this end, just give me a shout.

Let's get it on! :thankyou:

(Since this thread is already on topic, we can use it for suggestions and organising the next one.)

I must say, on the facebook group there's a lot of activity, with a 4x4hookups type thing going also by Thinus Rautenbach (BlackAdder?)
It's not club related and everyone is welcome, specifically other brands, in an effort to rid the guys of that childish brand-bashing business. It's cool, and I went to one at de Wildt, and it was great fun with nice guys, BUT:

I'd love to go to a meet with the club guys, the original guys who got me into buying a 4x4 even though I'd never met any of them.

(Frankly, the club guys are WAY more decent than a lot of the FB folk.
But Thys is working hard, with some success, at civilising that lot too.)

Why not arrange a day trip for the short term (in the next two weeks or so) and get the 3 provinces on the board for about 5 to 6 weeks down the line - a weekend outing will take a bit longer to organise.

Just a suggestion. ;-)

I suggested Berakah :siffler:
Wayne,

From what I could gather after the last official club outing at Berakah in 2013 the trail has been roughened up (some nature and some not maintained 110%) and some places is a tyre chewing haven due to being very rocky and lots of loose underground.

Also a big issue for me on the trail is that there is not really escape routes on the rougher sections and thus you cannot try the easy first and come back and then try the more challenging section if you want to.

Also from a point of view as where a lot of people might join in on this with very little or even no experience in 4x4 driving I would say this is a outing for the seasoned driver only rather getting newbies to join in on what can end up in a mishap.

I haven't driven this particular trail since then but I am for one that is not keen on having very possible tyre damage on my Prado, so I will be sitting this one out due to not wanting to damage my vehicle or my pocket. I am aware that there is other members here that also share this point of possible tyre damage.

I still need to learn my new vehicle's offroad handling and how it wants to be driven on 4x4 trails so I'll be taking risks that can be avoided as this trail is to an extent technical and one wrong and you can damage your vehicle badly.

I personally is opting for a day out at basslake where there is from soft roader trail that starts off easy, to technical climbs that challenge most respectable 4x4's. Also most places there is usually a fair amount of parking and spectating space at most obstacles from reasonable safe distances. Having done one Fundi Marshalling challenge there you can really almost cater for most driver skill and vehicle's.

Its not a car breaker but its a great refreshing trail to drive to get back into the groove with your vehicle before tackling more difficult trails.

Its just my R5 worth of comment.

I agree with Johan.Berakah is a nice trail but not a easy one.I damage 2 of my mags and get cuts on the side walls of my tyres with my last visit.

Even if not for this advertised event. Looks like a nice exclusive venue. Can only book as a 4x4club. No public or day visitors. Even for camping. Leeuwenkloof.

Hy laat weet my toe later......NIKS HET RECORD NIE BEHALWE TOE ONS TERUGRY EN WEER OP DIE TEERPAD KLIM VOLKSRUST TOE OPAD HUISTOE :frustrated: :frustrated: :frustrated: :frustrated: :frustrated:

Nooit weer nie..ekt gister vir my 'n Eagle Eye by oom Eric bestel

Kobus,

Daarvoor het jy een van die nodig:

viewtopic.php?p=429370#p429370" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

At s'n ....
Trail about 10km outside Brits...not advised after heavy rains apparently. Saw it on the telly...can't remember now if it was on Tumi's show or Safari 4x4 with "lae bestek"

See there is something planned for the 18th already, but we can certainly make a plan

Apparantly this trial is especially more challenging for the long wheel base vehicles... He shorties seem to have more fin there for the pics and comments on other forums...
