I am starting this post early so we can ensure that you plan around this date and attend. :D :D I am in the mood for eating a red one or two.

Our previous attempt failed due to going at the end of the crayfish season. The season opens the weekend of the 1 st so letâ€™s get in early this time :D :D

Ek sal uitry vir die dag, maar jy kry my nie in daai water nie... daar is nie genoeg brannewyn in die wereld om my warm genoeg te maak daarvoor nie...

ook nie genoeg vaseline of baby-powder om my te lubricate om OOIT weer in my wet-suit in te pas nie... Ek kry sommer nou al 'n panic attack...

I too would like to know where this place is.
the last three seasons I took out my permit, with no luck.

Maybe I'll be in for this get-together too, if there are big crabs up there.
DUnno why they just don't open oudekraal for crab collection. There are big oupas there, just dying out.
Why not open that, and close hangklip to recover. Just like the farmers do that have their cows feed on diff patches at a time.

So who does the westcoasters take out the crab, down south we normally have a ring, or bamboo stick. The brave ones don the wetsuite. I get claustrophobic when i'm between seaweed... even though you supposed to be safer from the taxman between the weeds ???

It is between Vredenburg and Parternoster and the local will know the turnoff as the Nuwe Rust road (gravel)there use to be a pub in the house (big one on the left - face brick).

I hope that we will get a few more than last time but then it was the end of the saeason and well this one is in the beginning. A nice braai will round off the day as well. :D

Just loiter at far corner of the pub car park and many a good sized crayfish will come to you, they even wrap themselves in checkers bags :roll: :roll:

Guys, I've just been to the fishing inspectors office, and he told me the date for recreational crayfishing is15th Nov.. I hope I haven't put a spanner in the works. Commercial crayfishing starts on the 1st.

Hi Rich, if we have radio contact we can warn each other if there are any suspicious road blocks en route. The Paternoster- Vredenburg road is a happy hunting ground for inspectors of the fishey kind. Not that a fine upstanding bunch of Lux drivers would catch more than their quota.

All going well, F_D will be there! I ain't jumping in any frozen Arctic waters and have my toes either frost-bitten or chomped by hungry Crayfish, but I will be quite content to sit back & relax while the others do so!
