The poll ( viewtopic.php?f=57&t=4848 ) indicated that most of you guys want to go and do the Babylons Torin route on Saturday 31 Jan.

I just spoke to Hugo Basson of BT. The trail is booked out for us on 31/01/2009. Details as follows:

Cost = R120 per vehicle
Length of the trail = 14km
Grading = 4
Escape routes on all obstacles.
Braai facilities are available.

Hey guys,

I may request co-pilot rights, as my lux's engine is in pieces in the garage... With some of the issues found it may take some time to get it all back together and running 100%...

Are there any co-pilot spots available?

AG THYS, jammer dat ek nou weer jou difflock knoppie gedruk het,maar ons "firstimers" raak maar gou benoud en beangs.So n 20 jaar gelede sluit die uwe mos by n fietsry klub aan en met die eerste oefening trek ons weg en trap dat my tong op die handle bars hang.Natuurlik was ek nie fiks genoeg nie en raai wat!!!! NIEMAND WAG VIR MY NIE. Beangs en benoud raak ek toe so 25km van my huis en geen klublid te sien nie.SO WHATS THE MORAL OF THE STORY? Wil net gaan oefen solank.As ons vroeg vertrek dan ook by n gastehuis inboek,en daarvoor moet ek plek bespreek.Vestaan djy nou my broe!!!

Die beauty is Hentey, daar is 2 baie nice chalets op die trail, as jy wil kan jy sommer daar boek, dan kom drink ons almal die oggend voor die trail by jou koffie en ons hou die driver's briefing op jou stoep...

En na die tyd braai ons sommer by jou ook...

Dat so n brein eendag moet vrot!!! Beste voorstel wat ek sover in 2009 gemaak is.As iemand net die website adres kan voorsien want self het ek dit nie kon kry nie.Al baie tyd daaraan spandeer.

I see we lost some participants in the last week. I need to confirm with Hugo Basson by Wednesday (28/01) how many participants we will have, and also if we are going to require the one chalet for braai-activities afterwards. Please indicate if you will be attending or not before Wednesday.

Yes Thys,I booked 1x chalet for the weekend.According to Me Basson no open fires are allowed due to very dry conditions.However inside fires are allowed.People who want to braai after the event are more than welcome to use my inside facility.My family and I will be sleeping over on Friday night so coffee will be served at 5h30, or is that to late?

Good, so I can tell Hugo we dont need to book the other unit. He assured me that he will provide braai facilities at the chalet. I will take it up with him when I speak to him on Friday. 5:30 is too late hentey, we need to be on top of the mountain by the so we can check the sunrise...

and for the town side folk, must be drive through Durbanville or is there an alternative express route via the N1? Does the R304 meet the N1

You can take the R304 Klipheuwel turn-off just after the Winelands 1Stop, or alternatively the R304 Philidelphia turn-off from the N7. Both these routes will bring you to the meeting point.

Here is another attempt at a map..

Cobus, ons moet probeer om al so 8uur se kant daar (by BT) te wees, sodat ons aan die gang kan kom. Anders raak die dag lank hier na die middag toe, veral as ouens nog wil braai en voor donker by die huis kom...

That means we will have to meet at the above meeting place at 7:00 ready to leave at about 7:30? from there it is another 30 minutes drive to get to BT. We can have coffee while we deflate tyres, meet and greet, engage in general nonsenspraat, and the pre-trail drivers briefing. What say you??

There might also be some other drivers joining us, but for now the turn-out looks just dandy.. (Kobus Rooibakkie and Jacques Discovery, Joe V8 is in Angola at the moment and can't make it)

Yes, you guys must enjoy the trip, sorry I can't make it (again)

Last 2 times I did the trail, the 4x4x4 section that Allen calls "Definitely the best obstacle of the route" in his report, was closed. It is a pity, because that is a nice challenge with a steep accent and lots of cross axles. To my knowledge it is still closed.

Toe ek vandag gaan om n nuwe voorruit te fit, word ek gese dat my bakkie was in n ongeluk , en het gerol, sal dus nie die nuwe kan insit nie, MAAR ek sal met die ou ene, wat halfpad uitval en gekraak is more gaan, sal dit nie misloop nie!
