Yes, it is possible to do a fishing trip to Meob Bay in the Namib Desert! It is still a
restricted area, but in the company of concession holders limited group tours are allowed
to catch and release at Meob Bay. This is therefore a unique opportunity.
Meob Bay enjoys a cool climate brought about by the Benguela current flowing out of the
Antarctic. The rich cold waters teem with shoals of fish and are every fisherman’s
The tour commences in Walvis Bay from where you drive along the beach to Sandvis. If
the tide is low you will negotiate the Langewand, otherwise you will cross the inland
dunes. Some important landmarks along this route are the wrecks of the Shawnee and
Eduard Bohlen, the icon of the Namib. Within one day’s drive you will be at Meob and
your fishing experience can begin.
Get your fishing partners, pack your fishing tackle and 4 x 4’s and experience fishing in
the world’s oldest desert, the Namib.

Rate : based on a group of minimum 15 people:
4 Day – R6750 per person
5 Day – R7750 per person
6 Day – R8750 per person
7 Day – R9750 per person
Date : 12 – 17 August 2012
Included : 3 meals daily, experienced guide with own vehicle, two way
radio’s for vehicles, camping fees, concession fees, fishing permit, camp
shower and toilet.
