The sea has been rough during the past week and I noticed lots of mussels which washed out.
There were two different species, I know the one is the normal black mussel but what is the other one?

We went to Trekoskraal today to braai 'n ou vissie next to the see. (this is now a two tale post)

Interesting Pieter ..... I would also like to know what they are ... Apparently we have 4 different mussel species around our shores but that includes freshwater mussels as well I think. The two common ones AFAIK are the normal smooth black mussel and the zebra mussel. I wonder if the one with the fan pattern ribs doesn't fall into the 'clam' category?
