Agapantas: Changing color

Post by Niel »

Why does white agapantas gradually change color to blue/purple when planted amongst each other? This year there are more blue than white as there was an equal amount at the beginning.

We have Agapanthuses white and blue next to each other and they stay the same.
I think your blue ones bread to much and they over take the white ones.
They normally don't flower at the same time but a couple of weeks apart so the white ones should give white seedlings and the blue ones blue seedlings. If you want more white ones just cut the blue seed heads off before the seeds dry and fall.
thus allow only the white ones to geminate or plant them separate.
