How Long to Build a new Lux Legend 40 (Now with Pic's)
I have ordered my new Baby (Lux Legend in Blue) and have been told that I have to wait . No need to tell you of my disappointment of having to wait. So the very next question was (as any normal Hilux oke would ask) HOW LONG must I wait. “Sir you will have to wait a few days for me to answer that question as I have to ask the factory”
So now I have been waiting two weeks for them to tell me how long I have to wait??????? (Starting to see a pattern here)
Which brings me to my question: Does anyone on this forum have any idea when our most trusted and respected manufacturer will be running the production lines with my new Lux legend (in Blue) on it.
( Waiting patiently)

I think they have a backlog due to the manufacturers strike

They are assembling another 500 in November this year, and should be available end November

Jy is reg Thabo, maar daar is 'n groot demand vir hulle dat hulle nog 500 gaan vrystel.
Mens kan een speciaal bestel maar in plaas van 'n ekstra R16K vir die bling, vra hulle R28k

Re: How Long to Build a new Lux Legend 40
I am not a very patient person at the best of time but this waiting is killing me. Everyone is either posting trip reports for trips they have just finished or posting info on were they are going or what they have just done to there Hilux but not me. I cannot even plan a trip for December as I still am waiting for the dealer to confirm a delivery date. (I know it is not his fault, I queried him again yesterday) But this does not help me, maybe if the dealer phoned me twice a week and really apologized and did some reassuring from his side I might just feel a little better .(But I dough it). The other problem is where am I going to get all the money for all the upgrades that I want.

Anticipation vs FRUSTRATION ....Rollercoaster639 wrote:I am not a very patient person at the best of time but this waiting is killing me. Barry I sympathise with your anticipation of your new Hilux.
Now let me give you the definition of FRUSTRATION !
I went through the motions and waiting and saving and and ..... FINALLY I had my Hilux, then it was a few moths of WAIT before I could get started on kitting it out. Eventually I got it 98% sorted and did an overnight trip to test is out. PERFECT ! :)
Get home and book a few more trips to finally get into the hole overlanding thing ....
The neighbours staffie RUNS into the side of my wifes buggered knee !
Brace and crutches for SIX WEEKS !!
Insted of camping I am cancelling these and doing the washing and ironing ....
I HOPE your Hilux experience starts better.
PS - YES these lovely trip reports does NOTHING for my fragile state of mind ...
HOPEFULLY we will spend a few days camping by mid November - deksils dit voel nog so VER !

Re: How Long to Build a new Lux Legend 40
At least you're not waiting for a clubcab Hilux. Beginnig of 2008 I decided I'll wait another few months, just maybe they will bring it to SA. A year later I bought the Triton clubcab. It's now been almost another 2 years and even though I've been promised since February of this year that it will be available soon, it's still not available.

Re: How Long to Build a new Lux Legend 40

Re: How Long to Build a new Lux Legend 40
I agree, the agents just don’t have the passion for the Hilux as I do.
As for getting a white one (which was my choice in the first place) I had to accept that it will be blue as SWAMBO wants it Blue. (A fair trade off all in all)
THE AGENT CALLED ME…..Sir it will be delivered to us around the middle of November then a couple of days later to you.

Really beautiful, Barry! .... worth the wait!!
When your road comes to an end ...... you need a HILUX!.
Life is like a jar of Jalapeño peppers ... what you do today, might burn your ass tomorrow.
Don't take life too seriously ..... no-one gets out alive.
It's not about waiting for storms to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain.
And be yourself ..... everyone else is taken!
