Thanks Mark,
Does anybody have experience with this? Any positives or negatives I should know about?

I think there are only positives in fitting an oil cooler.

Re: oil cooler
Dankie David,
of- 32 Ry cooler (330mmx264mmx50mm)
:problem:

Re: oil cooler
Oils degrade / breakdown with heat and become less affective, although automotive oils are formulated to withstand working temperatures with ease. One of the main functions of the oil (often overlooked) is to transfer the heat away from heat build up areas and this is where the oil cooler assists. Many vehicles have aluminium sumps with fins for heat dissipation and it helps, but nowhere near as effective as an oil radiator. Viscosity is not adversely affected either since the oil is never cooled to the point that it gets as thick as when it's cold.
All beneficial .... the only downside (if you want to call it that) is the initial cost of installation, but the savings in engine maintenance and oils lasting longer between changes, will offset that in the longer term.
