Rear shocks
Have been shopping around a bit for rear shocks, I want to replace them in the near future (not because they need to, but because I want to).
I want to replace the Hilux spec shock with the Cruiser79 spec. The shock has longer travel, and it also has a larger diameter piston and internal reservoir.
Got prices. The Monroe Gas Magnum, Monroe Sensatrac (replacing Gas Magnum) and then the Rancho RS9000. The price difference for 2 shocks is not even R500 between the Gas Magnum (cheapest) and the Rancho.
So I am most likely to go to the Rancho member of the Monroe family.

Re: Rear shocks
Had Cruiser shocks and severely limited the articulation (spoke to Hoppy and the ones I had were rated for a 3 ton vehicle rather than my 1.4) Thus my spin outs with rocks and dust flying due to axles not "dropping". But Chat with Hoppy on shocks. New Safaris have longer travel

Re: Rear shocks
AJ, coils en goed is klaar gedoen, ek soek net meer "oscillation dampening ability". Koop die shocks by Midas, Speedy, SupaQuick, Autozone of Mikar. En natuurlik kan jy die dampening ability van hierdie goed stel, so jy kan hard of sag stel, nege verskillende settings.
Van Zyl, I'll not fit Safari's again, they get WAY too hot when driven over corrugations with full load for a couple 100km's. You literally boil the oil inside. Again, you can set level of dampening with the Rancho's.
Darryl, I'll get the spec and will send you a pm on what I need; thanks.
...................... and I can upgrade to MyRide later on.

Re: Rear shocks
Hi Heinrich
I know this is a old post but I also want to fit Rancho's at the rear now on my DC. Have you installed it and if you did, are you happy with them? Are they longer than the standard hilux shocks?
I got a quote from Midas today for R1050 per shock for the RS9000XL. not bad..
Please let me know what you guys think.
