Have you rolled your Hilux

Post by Qlab »

Good Morning All,

I may have started a sensitive topic for some(due to injury or worst) :surrender: but as this is a site for sharing, I thought it good in starting a poll where fellow Hilux'ers can share their experiences with other.

I have seen and heard of allot of SFA Hilux's that has rolled or overturned.
Please share your "roll" with us in the following:

Vehicle:
Where:
What Happened:
Lessons Learned:
Pictures (Before and after if Hilux was repaired):

Yes.

Vehicle: 1991 Toyota Hilux 2.4D Single Cab
Location: Between Dargle and Lions River in the Natal Midlands
Event: Pumping it at 120 round a corner (sideways rally style) Truck coming round the corner on the wrong side of the road. The only way to avoid the truck was to go off road, which I did, but coming back on the road (Still sideways and in control) the vehicle caught on the corrugations (That the truck was avoiding) and flipped on the road. Then it rolled down a "Cliff" which was more like a really steep bank into a stream. Landed on the wheels, and with the help of a winch drove out of there and onto a flat bed. Only went on flat bed because the roof was flat and not really driveable on the road anyway.

Lessons learned:
1. Don't trust a proffesional truck driver
2. Doesn't matter how in control you are, some other idiot will stuff up your day
3. Rolling doesn't hurt, you only feel sore the next day
4. Bug weed stinks

I don't have after pictures.
Just because it says "4WD" doesn't make it an off-road vehicle.

Yes, long time ago but as a passenger and not in a Hilux (Datsun 120Y).

This was probably as close as I've been to rolling the Lux ......

Nog nie die Hilux. Maar in my jonger dae net my Golf 1 gerol op 'n informele rally, voorste shock het gebreek. Alles gebeur so in stadige tyd vir my gevoel.

Darm nogie my Hilux nie.
