Guys, we have known about this for months already and also the frequency. But without that valuable piece of paper that Cassie posted above, as much as I wanted to, I could not program any radios with the new frequency. Nicolaas ordered at exactly the right moment so that we could program his radios but he was not allowed to say so until we finalised all the Club admin regarding the licences. ;)

How it works:

Channels 10 and 11 are programmed with exactly the same frequency but channel 10 has an Analogue sub-audible tone (CTCSS) which means you use this channel when chatting to the older model radios, while channel 11 is for chatting between all newer models and utilises a Digital tone.

Easy to remember:

Ch 10 = old radios
Ch 11 = newer models

All Hilux Club members' new radios will now be programmed either with the ORRA channels (Ch1-9) subject to ORRA membership through the Club as well as Channels 10-11. If a member is not yet a member of ORRA, then you will only have a radio programmed with the Club frequency, but it is highly recommended that you do apply for an ORRA licence through the Club as well. The annual fees are dirt cheap.

Don,t want to keep you to busy on your birthday.I have only ORRA channels 1-7 on my mobile radio and channels 1-9 on my handset.

Enjoy you birthday today.

Thanks Dawie, yes, Cassie will be able to sort you out if your radio is capable of accepting additional channels.

I see I've apparently turned 99 today, can't wait until next year! That's counting in doggy years, of course

Frederick, daar's nou min radios wat die frewkensie op het. Give us time, ons is besig daarmee.

Guys in the JHB-Midrand area can talk to Cassie.

Johan, a dealer would probably charge you R75-R120 to do so, so you could just as well courier it to us, we'll do it for free. That goes for anyone else too.

You need to "Join the Club" (refer the red link opn top of every page) and then apply to us for a radio channel. We already have one VHF channel, our application for a further two has been approved by ICASA but we are just waiting for the paperwork to be completed.

After joining the club, you will get free access to our VHF channels which are valid anywhere within RSA's borders, but not the surrounding states.

Bargain, eh?

Hey guys I just want to know if I understand this radio move correctly. I have a vhf but am not licenced at orra. So this means I am allowed to use the hilux channels only and not the orra channels? I can program my own radio so is it allowed for me to have the frequencys or must I take it to someone to program it for me.

Juan, being a HiluxClub member you are now entitled to use the frequencies that ORRA uses as they are the exact same as the 3 frequencies we are using.

Yep, but provided that you register your radios with the club. Have a look at this thread Juan, the first post will guide you. ;-)
