Fuel consumption V6 over 4000km
Quickly drove through via Gaborone, Kazangula and then Lusaka for some business.
The V6 gave me 7.5km/L at an average speed of 135km/h (from Lusaka down to mazabuka and choma I was in a hurry and did 165km/h to catch the ferry again).
Fuel R10/L in Bots so i did not mind. Mastercard is tops - even accepted at borderposts.

That is a very good average for that speed and assuming you must have been loaded to the max.. What is your average under normal conditions (100-120km/h)?

Snorkel fitted (not that that helps), cats removed.
And of course, it is now just run in at 380 000km

Mine does 6.0km/l if I drive it like I stole it and 8,5km/l if I drive 110 - 120km/h
That is measured at the pump. Not extras and only slightly lifted. And cats removed.
Still want to fit a freeflow cilincer

Re: Fuel consumption V6 over 4000km
I've only had my v6 for a couple of weeks now so I'm no expert but my onboard computer is saying 4.2 to 4.5 km/l. I have a long range tank apparently. Which i discovered when i took it to the fuel pump after picking it up from the dealer. I was used to my Terios so I thought 'sure this will have a bigger tank'. Thinking it'll top out around 65 litres or so. When the meter went past 70lit, then 80lit, then 90lit and stopped at 116 litres i finally let go of the breath i was unconsciously holding.
This was followed by a big "GULP" as i realized I may be in over my head.
My driving is mostly city driving with average speeds for my daily commute to and from work around 35 to 40 km. So I'm guessing this 4.2 to 4.5 is about par for the course. Secondly, my daily commute is only 26 km. It took me three years of commuting to put 15,000 km on my Terios so my v6 wont be driven too much.
I suppose that's a consolation.
Plus, the v6 rumble and the tyre screeching launch is an experience.
98% of the hiluxes in my country are the Diesel variety of which there's perhaps a 60/40 split between the 2.5 litre engine and the 3.0 litre engine. So my machine is basically a sleeper for most people unless they see the badging on the side of the fender. When it launches most people can't figure out where the noise came from until I'm gone and there's a dust cloud everywhere :-)
I love that. I realize its a bit douchy and totally inappropriate but I'm fairly near my mid-life-crisis so if this is the extent of my douchiness, I think its not really that bad.

Re: Fuel consumption V6 over 4000km
I've had my V6 now for just over a week
And I know exactly how you feel
Filled mine up when it was between 1/4 and empty and it took 140l
That's R1800 in one go
Also getting around 5km/l in town.
But that's completely down to me driving like an idiot
