Good day Guys and Gals,
My 2.7 1999 Hilux has 585 000 on the odd, and has started using water. I don't see any leaks, and I haven't experienced any loss of power or anything untoward.
Last week I noticed a drip under the engine and traced it to the water pump. Apparently there is a little hole on the water pump, that tends to leak.
What i find interesting, is that it doesn't seem to drip constantly, some days it will, and others not. Is it maybe related to how far i drive before it tends to leak?
Best option to replace the water pump, or is there a sealant available?
Thanks in advance.

My opinion is to replace the pump. Chances are that it's on it's way after that many kilos and it might just let you down on a trip or at a time when it's most inconvenient. I don't like using coolant sealing additives unless it's in a real emergency - they can restrict flow through the radiator and even the water galleries at the head gasket if those holes have constricted with corrosion / gunk over time.

Coolant leaking from that little whole usually means the pump seal is on its way out. Agree, replace the pump.

Yes. The seal on the waterpump is definitely going.
