Hi there
I don't have the Bush Tech Canopy I have an RSI. I am extremely happy with it. Once you get passed the car looking like a telkom van or a mortuary truck it really is magic.

Hi all.
I am looking also for an aluminium cab for my 2009 DC.

I would like to have side doors (glass or alumimium). Also, no dakrak/tent at the moment, but could be inthe future, so it needs to be strong.

Who is reputable in these canopies? Obviously it is a huge expense. Who can I contact and who should I stay away from.

Also, if it is alum doors, can windows be inserted (so doors still to open, but windows can slide still incase I want to take the dog to the farm.

Does anybody know about groundzero canopies? any reviews?
Thanks

Hi guys.

Aluminium canopies are the business. I've got an old outback on my Bakkie.

A friend of mine is manufacturing canopies, they are amazing and like nothing you have seen on the market.

More importantly his pricing is a lot less than any other company.

Message me if you would like more info.

I have a RSI canopy with widows on the side,I recently did the limpopo trial in the kruger. With all the rain we had going up and the dust and bumpy trail, not one nut or bolt came loose and no leaks from the canopy, both water and dust. Yes my tailgate has been sealed . It comes with roof rails to mount a frame. you can load 300kg on the canopy when parked, and 150kg limit when driving.

Hi Henk

I have one of the Ground Zero canopies. Good quality canopy and their price is very reasonable - R13000 for the double cab canopy. Mine does not have the windows but they can fit windows that can open.

I'm also starting to look around, my current Carryboy is leaking badly, and I want to replace it with a more practical solution.

Found "Bos Otter Canopies" on Facebook. Their prices seem very competitive. Anyone on the forum with such a canopy?

Hey gents, also hunting for a canopy for my 2013 xtra cab.

RSI now have a Smart stainless steel Canopy where they send you all the panels and you can do the assembly DIY. The quality looks really good and you can always replace individual parts (if damaged, or add on later). See the video.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KyEtTLzV4CM" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
However, this is slightly above my price range.

Here in Cape Town (specifically Stellenbosch) we do not have such a wide range to choose from.
It seems that every small town has a Aluminium Canopy manufacturer.

Another one that I really like, and a more cost effective option, is LedFly (also up in Jhb!!).

Ruben you have/had a 4x4 fitment centre, just cant recall the name now, in Stellenbosch

Short drive in any direction and your choices are:

GOMAD - Brackenfell
R&D - Brackenfell
Burnco - Stikland
METALION - Kuilsriver
4x4Winelands - SomersetWest

some more options towards the Southern Suburbs and PaardenIsland as well.

Hey ChrisF, Yes, I had a look at them online and I have asked for some quotes. But I want to speak to someone that actually has one and would recommend it to me. As I said, every small town has a Aluminium Canopy manufacturer, however I am looking for quality.

Ystervark is the one in Skelmbos.

Over the weekend I saw a very nice canopy from Outback Products with a solid glass door at the back.
Does anyone know of a Outback Supplier here in Cape Town?

I have a GOMAD canopy... Had it on my Vigo for almost 4 years now. I use it hard, and it is strong, it works and it looks great. Give Gysie a call, his prices are extremely competitive and his service is great.

Jip, many on here have GOMAD products. You will find some good reviews of their products here, thats why they are on top of my list.

R&D is a bit on the expensive side. But their constant waiting list speaks volumes. My neighbour only use them.

Personally I have used BURNCO, and would do so again.

Friend had a canopy fitted at Metallion. VERY impressed with their quality. See here for more info on his rig and the fun we had - viewtopic.php?f=41&t=37810&p=449875&hil ... er#p449875" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Metallion is owned and run by Hein .. typical German quality.

ALL of these you can walk in and see for yourself how they operate. Not the shady places that hide their working areas ...

I can also say that the Gomad canopy is one of the best if not the best. I had one fitted about 4 years ago. It still looks new and is very strong.

I'd stay away from the all glass rear doors. They are not the most durable.
Happy trails

Ditto. Ou Carlo Voetsek had huge problems with an Outback all glass rear door. It broke.. and he couldnt get a replacement. Then the canopy started leaking for some reason and I think he is still struggling to waterproof it. And I think Outback went out of business anyway.. :shock2: :shock2:

I have alucab canopy, and no water and dust problems at all. I think that whatever canopy you decide on get a lot of feedback from people using that brand for the dust and water problems. Nothing ruins a trip more than have everything in the load bin damp and covered in dust...

Just had my Bushtech fitted earlier this week, just looking at the workmanship and the attention to detail I would recommend the them to anyone. The hinges, seals etc. is in my opinion better than most of the products out there.
