<t>Good day all<br/>
<br/>
I'm wondering if any one can help me. I have been offered a 2000/2001 3000D EFI Hilux double cab 4x4. It has a fair amount of rust on it and is leaking oil out the transfer case where the two casings meet by the rear prop shaft. The person selling is asking R40 000. Is it value for money or must I be worried? Also are there any common problems with these hilux models? The photos attached are of the vehicle. </t>

Hi Simon, and welcome to the forum.
It might be prudent to climb underneath the vehicle and inspect the chassis for rust, much more important then general body rust. If the vehicle has been used for sea-launches it might be best to walk away from it.

You will spend around R5-10k to get the gearbox properly sorted and upwards of R25k to sort the bodywork.
If you do not buy it, I might be interrested.
