Tyre Size - 2019 Hilux 2.8 GD6

Post by RobbyHiLux40 »

Howzit Gents

I am looking at upgrading my tires from the standard 265/60/18 to a set of BF Goodridge KO2 265/65/18.
Will these tyre's be fine for fitment? Not to big or scratch etc?

Thanks

Going from a 60 to 65 profile is not such a big difference. I seriously doubt that it is going to create any issues.

I do not know what your vehicle is currently being used for, but,
If you intent using it for over landing to our neighbors up north, then,
This should already get the warning lights flickering.
If these tyres cannot be obtained in RSA, you are less likely to get them over our borders.
If the vehicle is going to be used further afield, I would suggest going with a smaller rim and a higher profile,
For better absorbtion of shock from bad roads and a bigger contact area, when letting the tyre down,
For sand and other off road use.
The roads are also getting as bad in the RSA, as those in our neighboring states,
So this is not even a bad option here.

I agree, I would run the standard 18" mags for normal town/highway driving and get a set of 17" mags for overlanding/traveling into remote areas, if you need a tyre you'll be much happier with a 17" mag/rim setup
