Auto lock?

Post by Mikie »

Is this correct?

The new Fortuners, and I am thinking the New Hiluxes, dont come out with the Auto Lock function??

Mate of mine bought a Fortuner for his wife last week and he was moaning about this, Apparently it doesnt have this feature and Toyota refuse to install it due to ECU problems or something

As far as I know that feature can be activated or de-activated as you want. Have they checked the manual...???

Apparently not on thenew models, and Toyota have confirmed it, they dont do it anymore.
Why would you remove a secuirty feature like that?

I did it with my Fortuner and it works perfectly, Toyota did it and it cost me 650. Apparently it is only one wire that they have to install. But that is typical Toyota that will sell you an luxury vehicle with very few luxuries

This is a brand new 2013 model, Toyota even have a letter from Head office stating that they may not install said wire anymore, something about creating issues for the ECU.
Auto Lock is a key feature, specially in a country like ours. I cant think of any car over R150k that doesnt come with it as standard

What is this auto lock function? Is when you unlock and not open a door that it locks itself?

:surrender: :surrender: Why not just think about it, When you buy it,it is fully kited with all that you need plus. Their after sale service is not to bad and definitely better than Toyota's and be honest how often do you see them next to the road asking for help. They do have a very nice ride and are capable so why not. :slap: :slap: :shock2: :shock2: But will I go there :aggresive: Hmmmmm Maybe just to show Toyota they must stop riding on the past and keep up with technology. Look after your customers and they will look after you don't think Toyota drivers are stupid and they will just blindly follow because of old success. Just look at the market and what is out there the Ranger, Amarok, even the Colt products have more in them. My feeling Toyota is riding a wave that is fast busy collapsing. Sorry but it is try. Just do some market resurge and be open minted then you will see.

Hi this function has been stopped because if you have an accident the doors will stay locked ,the doors do not unlock automatically when there is a impact. It is for your own safety according to Toyota

This is my first Toyota ever. I had a variety of other cars previously. I have to say it is not bad at all, In fact I would rate it one of the top 3 that I have owned. However given lots of small things that are not up to par with the other brands, Toyota is way behind. It is as if they are banking on reputation alone. Even the finish, in my van, O I bought it brand New, the passenger air bag cover is warped received it like that. The radio surround is also warped, also received it like that. Fortunately it is a toyota so I didnt worry cause I wont loose much on trade when I change to a different brand in 2 years. However that being said, Should toyota make drastic changes, to keep up with the market, then I would most likely get another.

DO check with Toyota - in the past the feature came as a standard, BUT was NOT activated. I asked the dealer to activate it when I took it in for the first service - this on a lowly 2,5 D-4D ....

WORKS :)

Please help me understand here:

You guys female dog and moan that the doors don't lock once going faster than 30km/h?

For one, very few people will be able to open a door from the outside at 30km/h!!!

Get in the car and lock the doors if that will make you feel comfortable!

kind of a stupid argument from toyota's side, if you lock it manually it will also still be locked after an accident, why don't they then rather fix the impact system to open it regardless....
I am sure the rescue authorities will be able to break a window..
