NUUT OP FORUM EN SOEK HULP

Post by sakbal »

Laat weet asb.

Welcome Sakkie, I am sure you will enoy your stay here.

Unfortunately there is no one on this forum that has done the conversion to a golf carb yet (unless he is in hiding) but there has been some talk about it.
You may be able to help us in being the test subject for the conversion
As for the vacuum pipes, I assume you have electronic ignition which means you have two pipes coming from the dissy and a whole host of others running all over the place. Take a look at these two threads. the first is a discussion over the carb and the second the original vacuum hose information, you may be able to figure out which pipes can be blocked off. How many vacuum ports does the new carb have? and where are they coming from? IIRC it has only two, one for the accelerator diaphragm pump, the other I can't remember.

If you upload some pictures of what you have we might be able to help a little easier.

Sal graag wil help.

Sorry I do not understand all this Afrikaanse taal, but the carb from the VW will not work, you need to use a carb that is designed for a vehicle that will be driven on angles, up steep hills and down declines.

BV. n 1300 sal n primere venturie van so 18mm he en n sekondere van so 22mm.
Waar n 2.2L so 22mm primere en so 28mm sekonder sal he.

Just remember, you need the genuine VW carb. The Midas carb does not work, according to what Lindsay has stated.

Come on guys, who else is going to give this a try? You know you should do so, for the sake of better fuel consumption. If nobody else tries this, I guess I'll have no option but to buy another 4Y Hilux to test it out myself!

I considered it, but... well, you know... red is such a yucky and aggresive colour! So I have decided to give it a miss....

I think Christopher is aiming too high for that vehicle, he will sell it easily enough if he drops his price by R20K or so.

Actually, I have another 4Y engine, newly overhauled, perhaps I should install it into Maltese Dog....

FD I agree fully, however it is his vehicle and he must make up his own mind what he wants to do with it, it just depends how much he is wanting the money.

It is like my Hilux, if I take into consideration of all the money and time spent on it, I would have to sell it for over R150 000. but because I do not owe anything on it and I still enjoy driving it, I did tell somebody that if they brought me R90 000. they can buy it but I do not have to.

One last question, in the morning when you get up, and you have washed the stuff out of your eyes and had a cup of tea and then you go towards the key hook, how do you decide which vehicle to drive?

I normally check which has the most fuel in it. Or what mood I am in.

So at the end of the day what actually happened to the fitment of a VW Carb to this vehicle?

Somebody showed us a short video clip of a vw racing over small hills and angles, I say racing, I did not say that this 4x4 is going to race, I said that it would not work on angles when traveling slowly!!!!
