Probably throttle body injection with the carb body, this can be done with a single "big" injector running in batch mode. The benefit are there, but limited, because one of the big advantages of std EFi, our way, is that the injectors sit very close to the head. The fuel travels a very short distance before being ignited in the cylinders.

And the disadvantage of the short travel would be what? As far as I understand it atomization will be improved as there is no time to form droplets.. or does it have to little time to mix with the air?

other way around - the fuel comes out of the injector in a very fine mist.
every bend it encounters causes the fuel to fall out of suspension causing droplets. (think of mist hitting a window and forming droplets)
remember that liquid fuel does not burn, only fuel vapour burns.

This is why some manufactures are now building direct injection engines where the injector actually injects straight into the combustion chamber under huge pressure.

The short distance is a major benefit! With throttle body injection the fuel vapour still has a long way to travel through the intake mani, hence the loss of throttle response.

If it is this it is just a 1/4 of the full potential one can get. Rather spend the money on the parts and do it yourself and get the full benefits.

Direct injection with the 3Y-E manifold much better.
