Hi guys I have a toyota hilux single cab 2x4 with a 2.2L L2188 engine. I don't have much knowledge on the topic and my dad is a diesel mechanic but doesn't have time to overhaul the engin and according to him it is needed. So i want to know if any of you perhaps have such a engin or one the will fit in its place that is up for sale and in good running condition.
i apologise for any bad english

Or you could fit a 4Y.
if you ar interested in the 4Y pm me so we can work out a deal.
I have one that I can part with, complete with clutch, bell housing and complete donaldson air filter. I drained the oil out the motor when I removed it from the bakkie....
I removed the motor to fit a V6.

Welcome Wihan!
The 4Y (2.2 lit petrol) is an awesome motor in off-road conditions, but it's a bit slow / sluggish at speed on the open road. They're also notoriously thirsty.
The WL (2.5 lit diesel) on the other hand is a better all-rounder, giving better open road performance (especially if you're carrying a load), while still being great off-road with more than decent low rev torque. It's also going to be much more fuel economic and since your bakkie is already a diesel it may be a simpler conversion (bell and clutch withstanding). As your dad is a diesel mac he can help you with any conversion issues as well as long term maintenance.
